February 13, 2005 Top Ten Reasons Winter Sucks Even In The Desert 1. Rain?!?!? — We feel duped! We moved to the desert and it has rained all winter long. The sun just peeked out for the first time in 3 days. Feels more like Seattle than Phoenix. 2. Sick— We have taken turns with various bugs for the last couple of months. Katie has been in bed most of the winter due to relapses & weather. 3. Cabin Fever — The rain & sick has kept us inside most of the winter. 4. Due to illnesses we canceled our Feb. trip to Indy to see friends & family. 5. We thought selling a house in the fall in Indy was hard, winter is even worse. Here in AZ houses sell in a few days! 6. Katie found that in the desert when the sun shines, sun poisoning is even possible in January! Guess she should pay closer attention to those Rx warnings. 7. Steve is another year older & spent his birthday out of town! 8. The Groundhog saw his shadow so we have even more of this crappy Winter! 9. AZ drivers—We have extra snowbirds here this time of year & no one knows how to drive in all this rain. We were rear-ended in our 3 month old van last week! 10. When the sun does shine, you can only swim until about 5:30 when the sun sets. O.K. I guess I shouldn’t complain. At least we didn’t have to deal with the Indiana snow, below zero temps, & power outage for a week that our friends & family went through. We have had some good times this winter. Here are a few… · Dave Liggett visited. We went to Sedona & Superstition Mountain (it Hailed!) and some other cool places. Here are some pics. · Steve learned to knit! The day after x-mas the girls taught me how. It has been very relaxing & fun. · Even though we missed friends & family it was a very relaxed holiday season. We were able to focus on our little immediate family. · The kids have still been swimming! · Steve had some pictures published on the Polaroid website. · The girls love their new school. · Eleni & Ippolyti are going to visit from France! · Steve & Katie celebrated 11 years of marriage! Sorry I haven’t updated the site, hopefully we will get better at it soon. Happy Valentines Day! |
