a word about why we give it away

If you have been with us through our first one hundred posts, you know that we have charged for some of our designs in the past, but that our main focus has always been on the work itself. Not having it in us to make this a day job is, perhaps, to everyone’s advantage. You can try out a technique or a pattern that catches your eye with little more than a mouse click. And we are free to move on – to design more, knit and spin more, create and dream more without being bogged down in the intricacies of business that take time away from the actual knitting.

That said, we do still offer a few items for purchase. Our patterns are available nicely printed on quality paper, neatly presented along with one-of-a-kind cover art and other gifts. In addition, at times we present certain patterns as limited offers, either with our printed collections, or on their own. We charge a bit for these designs because they are something special, something really unique. We have no expectations of making millions. We do it because we are proud of what we do, and we want it to look good. This time, we have added a donation button and, if you are so moved, you can help keep most of LGStitched free for everyone. But don’t feel obligated.

Even if we never see another penny as Luscious Gracious Studios, it is worth it. We are leaving a record for our kids. We are proclaiming our love for all of the things that drive us – color and texture, light and form. And music, this time, too. We use LGStitched (and our blog) to keep us in line, to remind ourselves of all we have done and why it matters. We are having the time of our lives. Share that with us, please.
